Ion Exchange is the reversible exchange of ions between a liquid and a solid. Ion exchange is a process used to control the purity and pH level of water and more specifically the conductivity level when used in the EDM process by removing undesirable ions and replacing them with acceptable ones. The process is generally used to exchange the undesirable ions from the liquid with the acceptable ions from the Ion Exchange Resin.
